I should add that prior to having their memberships "revoked" by PDP, Ann-Marie had been booking the speakers for the SFABC's Main Meetings for the last 5 years prior(Without thanks or recognition of same by him), Chris Hasselkus was running the movie-watching group, That's
Science Fiction after PDP took it away from the original host, Barry Weinburger in a power grab,
and Todd of course was running the Author Discussion Group,which had become the most popular & well attended of all of Phil's bookstore groups to date. And this is how he repaid them!
Well now we have a true Democracy...err, make that matriachy in the club, and it's better than
ever.

It's like that old joke: "Troops, we need one volunteer for a suicide mission. Please take one step forward." And everybody takes one step back -- except for one guy not in the know.
What happens to a club when the President expels the entire membership? (A slight exaggeration!) It's not always "good to be King": there's no one to restrain you when you're about to do something really, really self-destructive.
Hi, let me first say that I was not present for the splitting of the club, so therefore, I cannot lay claim to all of the events. I heard from PDP that 4 people were expelled due to sexual harassment. I came back to the SFABC shortly after that, and have always hated the bad blood between the groups. It seemed to me that there was plenty of angst towards Phil before this incident and what had bothered me the most was that no one talked to him about it (if they did, I never heard). Phil has been such a good friend to me (as well as Pam), so you can imagine how bothered I am to see you casually talking about infidelity towards his other half. He certainly does not carry on this way about any of your members this way. Something you should consider.
First of all my belief on the reasons behind Phil's behavior
is based on interviews with 2 of
the people involved. Since Phil has
NEVER told his side of the story in
full to me or others I can only assume that what I was told was true. Also if you read the entire
piece you'ld understand that my tone was very serious on those
points
